Norzila Ambiah, LLB, CLP, MBA - Claims Manager (Marine and Legal)
Norzila handles all types of marine claims including ship’s Hull & Machinery damage, liabilities arising out of incidents such as ship collisions, cargo shortage, pilferage, contamination and other cargo damage, pollution, demurrage claims, ships arrest and crew employment matters. This entails negotiating and liaising with claimants, insurers, P&I Clubs, lawyers, adjusters and surveyors.
She previously worked with Spica Services in Kuala Lumpur, where she was the legal correspondent/local representative for various international insurers including the International Group of P&I Clubs, handling day to day problems for vessel operators, charterers, terminal operators, hauliers and freight forwarders etc. Her responsibilities also included the drafting of contracts, Letters of Release/Indemnity, perusing shipping documents such as Bills of Lading and Charterparties.
Norzila has a Bachelor of Law degree (Hons) from the University of Kent at Canterbury, United Kingdom, after which she obtained her Certificate in Legal Practice from the University of Malaya (2000 – 2002). She continued to further her education and graduated with a Masters in Business Administration, reading International Business at the University of New England, NSW Australia (2002 – 2004).
